What is the Mimosa Me Crazy?
Mimosa Me Crazy is a new and totally unique event that will give participants many options and have something for everyone. An untimed (but accurately measured and with display clocks at the finish line) 5K run & walk and a “Mimosa Mile” for those wanting to go a shorter distance – to ‘fast track to the Mimosa Garden!’ We also have a free kids dash for those 10 years old and younger (parents welcome) .
When is it?
Saturday morning February 2nd. There is a detailed timeline in the “Information” section of this site.
Where exactly is the event?
We will be located at Little Marina Green in San Francisco, which is at 3950 Scott St.
What is the course like?
The start and finish are located at the same place, on the grass right next to the Presidio at Little Marina Green in the Marina District of San Francisco. This is a completely flat and very scenic loop around Crissy Field in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the water. Most of the route is paved, but you will be returning on the Promenade path next to the water, which is a hard packed dirt and sand. The Mimosa Mile will be an out-and-back run and walk along the first part of the 5K route. Both the 5K and 1 mile routes are stroller friendly. The Kids Dash will take place near the start/finish area.
Will the 5K or Mile be timed?
The Mimosa Me Crazy is more focused on fun, fitness, camaraderie and of course Mimosas than on finishing times. While there will be no official results, there will be display clocks at the start/finish line so everyone that wants to can keep track of their final time. Both the 5K (3.1 miles) and the Mile will be accurately measured.
What do I get for my registration fee?
In addition to event participation, you get a very cool shirt commemorating the event, a finisher medal and for those 21 years and older – your first adult beverage is also included with your entry fee. In addition to several types of mimosas, we will be offering at least two types of beer. There will be several vendors on hand at the finish line handing out swag and treats as well so please plan on visiting them while you’re there.
What about Kids?
Even though this is an event focusing on Mimosas, we encourage family participation and for those bringing children we will have several family-oriented activities.
There will be a Kids Dash before the main event for those 10 years of age and younger. The kids dash is free, but if you want to buy a youth shirt for your child the cost is $12. Each participant in the kids dash will receive a custom-printed kids dash bib number to wear and a finisher ribbon at the end.
Can kids come with us into the Mimosa Garden?
Sorry but no. We cannot allow minors into the Mimosa Garden. But we’ll have plenty for them to do!
Where do I pick up my shirt and bib?
There will be a packet pickup the day before, Friday Februay 1st, at the Sports Basement’s Presidio location (610 Mason St, San Francisco, CA 94129) between the hours of 10AM and 6PM. We strongly encourage anyone that can make it there to do so, since it will reduce the lines and wait time on Saturday morning. Anyone that hasn’t registered yet can also do so at the Sports Basement at that time, so invite your friends and family to come out and play! And just in case you needed extra encouragement, we’ll be serving a complimentary mimosa to everyone that comes to packet pickup, AND everything in the Sports Basement will be 20% with your bib number. How’s that for motivation!
If you can’t make that and come in the morning, just plan to arrive early to Little Marina Green on the big day! Registration opens at 8:00 a.m, in advance of the 9:30 a.m. start.
What about bathrooms?
There is a bathroom building at the park, next to the start/finish area. We'll supplement those with a row of portable bathrooms and we'll have hand-washing stations. There will also be a small number of portable toilets in the Mimosa Garden.
Is it dog-friendly?
Yes – We love dogs! Please remember to leash your furry friends and to clean up after your pup!
Of course! We just ask that you don’t begin at the very front of the start line for safety reasons, and be mindful of those around you.
What’s with the Costume Contest?
We appreciate creative costumes, so come decked-out (better yet, bring a team) in whatever garb you think best reflects the Spirit of the weekend and Mimosas and wear it throughout the event!
What about parking?
Marina Green is a very popular area of San Francisco and as such parking can sometimes be a challenge. We encourage people that can to carpool, bike, or use public or private transportation to get to the event. If you do decide to drive, please plan on coming early to make sure you can find a spot in time. More detailed parking information can be found here: http://sf.mimosamecrazy.com/index.php/parking
Will there be a place to check my clothes at the event?
Yes. You can check any gear you would like at our Gear Check tent in the main venue.
Do you need volunteers?
